On July 1, 2007 the KCTA Federal Credit Union and the South
Texas Credit Union merged to form the TexStar Federal
Credit Union. Each of the former Credit Unions had been
in existence for over forty years serving their original
respective fields of membership – KCTA, the employees
of the school districts of Karnes and surrounding counties,
and South Texas, the employees of the Entex, later Centerpoint
Energy Company. Over the years each of these two Credit
Unions had also included other employment groups in their
The decision to merge the two came as a result of the
desire of each to offer more and better services to members.
By combining the resources of the two Credit Unions and
the fact that they already shared office space and management
made the decision an easy one to make.
Since the merger
TexStar Federal Credit Union has been working diligently
to uphold the long tradition of dedicated service to its
members. The quality service our members of KCTA and South
Texas long ago came to expect is the same quality service
